Klein ISD Special Education Department Hosts ACCESS Senior Celebration

Klein ISD Special Education Department Hosts ACCESS Senior Celebration

The Klein ISD Special Education department brought ACCESS students from across the district together to celebrate the end of their time in high school.

Fourty-nine seniors, filled with anticipation and hope, were cheered on by their family and friends as they crossed the stage, marking the beginning of their next chapter.

“I am in awe of our outstanding ACCESS students and their hard work and resilience,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “ It is an honor to celebrate this monumental milestone alongside them, their proud parents and families, and incredible teachers.”

Alternative Cross-Curricular Education in a Structured Setting (ACCESS) is a program within Klein ISD’s special education continuum services that provides students with curriculum and instruction tailored to their individual needs.

These services are provided in a special education classroom for students participating in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) through pre-requisite skills. Students work through an alternate curriculum that includes academics, daily living, social skills, and community.

“The evening was filled with joy and pride as students, families, and educators gathered to honor the hard work of these individuals,” ACCESS Campus Coordinator Leslie Shoesmith said. “The event recognized not only academic milestones but also celebrated personal growth, resilience, and the supportive community that has helped students flourish.”

Congratulations to these outstanding students! We can’t wait to see all your success in the future.
